In Spain we have the privilege to have 2 different sub species of Chamois, the Cantabrian Chamois and the Pyrenean Chamois.
The Cantabrian Chamois is smaller in terms of body and trophy than his cousin from the Pyrenees.
Never the less his hunting represents in my personal opinion the Biggest Challenge we can have in Spain for Mountain Hunting.
The Cantabrian Mountains or Cantabrian Range are one of the main systems of mountains ranges in Spain and stretch east from the Pyrenees – to west the Galician Massif along the north coast.
We hunt the Cantabrian chamois in some of the best areas we have in Spain, located on Leon district.
We use to shot the biggest trophies we can find, however it is really difficult to shot trophies up to Bronze medal.
The Females of the Chamois represent also a nice trophy and their hunting is as difficult as the male.
You hunt in a Private Estate with 2.500 hectares in Open Range at an altitude of 1,400 – 2. 000m / 4.600 Ft – 6.600 Ft.
The nearest Airport recommended is Madrid Airport, where we will pick you up personally and assist you for the clearing of your weapon, and be at your disposal at any time.
In a private car, with your guide you will go to the Hotel located at 3,30h from the Airport and only at 30 minutes to the Hunting Area.
A rifle test is necessary. We will make the necessary checks before the hunt. We use to do that on the Ground to make sure the rifle is accurate.
If you don´t bring your rifle we have several ones perfectly optimized for this hunt with good scopes at very good zeroing.
We use a Leica Geovid binoculars with a Ballistic chart in order to know the drop of the bullet anytime.
We seriously recommended you to use our own rifles in order to make your trip more easy and comfortable.
On day 1, after breakfast, at 8h00, we will start hunting.
We move to the mountains in 4×4 and we start spotting the best areas where the Chamois use to feed.
The hunting can takes only a few hours, or a whole day depending of the chances we can have.
The 80% of the hunters take the sizes as trophy like they are looking for. We never shot trophies below the minimum size expected by the hunter.
In this area it is possible to combine with a Roe Buck Trophy Hunting, only during the spring (under request)
On day 2, if we didn’t take the trophy the day before, we use to have the same program.
The last day we will move to the Airport in Madrid.
If you want to combine holiday and hunt, with a non-companion hunter, there are plenty of possibilities to do tourism close to the hunting area or in Madrid. You just have to let us know in advance and we can send you some suggestions and arrange it for you.
